Bob Armstrong

Resolutions Manager

Since the start of my career as a stockbroker in the 1960s I have seen firsthand how constructive social action has reshaped global ambitions. I see the current environmental movement in the same light. We all have a part to play, and responsible citizenship has a major role in addressing climate issues.

My position as Resolutions Manager is a chance to work more closely with people and a refreshing confirmation that environmental action is being taken by individuals. Dealing with the installers and owners of solar hot water and solar PV systems and ensuring compliance with government-run schemes brings a closer interaction with the people pushing for community change.

Edward Davidson

Pricing and Forecasting

My work at COzero is motivated by an enthusiasm for environmental market systems, their functioning, and the positive effect they can provide as part of a policy mix.

When I first began at COzero I was given the opportunity to assist in the construction of the STC and LGC Aggregation business. Following the growth of this project, my role expanded to include market operations such as credit-risk supervision and OTC pre-and-post trade management. I have also managed various system development projects, building modified deal-capture and live mark-to-market position reporting programs.

Blake Lindley

Market Analyst

After completing a degree in Agricultural Economics in 2010 I joined COzero in 2011.

Working in Strategic Projects gives me the chance to be at the forefront of a number of the company’s new and promising projects. Whether it’s promoting domestic energy efficiency or CDM work in the developing world, it’s a lot easier to get out of bed knowing what you do contributes to something bigger than just the bottom line. Being surrounded by an office of similarly-minded people is hugely motivating and with such a range of backgrounds it’s always an entertaining place to be!

Since beginning at COzero I have begun a Masters course in Environmental Management to further my knowledge of environmental markets. It’s a little busy, and if you can’t find me at the office (or the UNSW library) I’m likely to be up the coast at any range of spots I’d rather not disclose.

Jemima Hastings

Key Account Manager

At COzero I fulfil a number of roles crucial to the functioning of the business. As the key account manager I have the privilege of delving into all sides of our multifaceted business - Whether I am assisting an aggregation client to get started on our online portal, liaising with suppliers, or exploring our exciting offer of carbon offsets with a local government.

As manager of our Voluntary Offsetting business I advise and assist proactive organisations in finding the right bundle of voluntary products to suit their vision, and fulfil their internal environmental management policies. I also ensure COzero meets all reporting obligations under the GreenPower program and maintain all administrative duties under the various registries.

Behind the scenes, I am directly involved with the maintenance and management of COzero’s online STC Portal. As the first point of contact for most of our clients I have come to understand the needs of installers and assist them through the STC creation process. We strive to make this often-complicated process simpler, and the personal approach provides a more rewarding customer experience.

While there’s a lot to know, the opportunity to interact with our eclectic range of contacts, across our diverse scope of operations, is highly rewarding and has given me broader insight into this young and dynamic industry.

Vicky Zhang

Compliance Officer

In such a fast-growing and dynamic industry it is crucial that business and individuals alike are kept up-to-date with changing government policies. A key part of my work with COzero is assisting scheme participants with government compliance issues, and while policy change makes my job more challenging it also keeps it interesting. Coupled with the Masters of Human Resource Management and Industrial Relations I am currently studying at UWS, I can honestly say that no two weeks are the same.

The COzero headquarters at Circular Quay are an interesting and exciting place to work, and the knowledge that our company is improving our environment in the long term provides great motivation.

Cara Frisbie

Head of Corporate Development

After growing up, studying, and working in the United States assisting emerging companies, venture capital clients in Silicon Valley and debt transactions in Asia, my personal interest in environment issues has given my career a new direction. Having immigrated to Australia with my family, I hope to combine my corporate and legal background with my personal interest in environmental matters to further Australia’s low carbon ambitions.

To support my educational back ground in corporate law, and facilitate my goal of working in this industry, I completed a Masters of Applied Science (Environmental Science) at the University of Sydney. Beginning at COzero during 2011, I have assist the company in managing project and corporate risk in the CDM portfolio and assisted with the corporate restructure of the company.

Xiaojing Shen

Head of China Operations

With a desire to experience the world, I left China 11 years ago to study at Birmingham University and the University of Sydney. These educational and cultural experiences have given me the skills to effectively manage what are often challenging business relationships between China and the world.

I believe climate change is perhaps the largest issue facing humanity, but rather than talk about it, I prefer to act. This drove me to apply myself to the emerging environmental sector in China. Joining COzero, I co-founded the Originate Carbon portfolio, managing the origination and creation of CERs (Certified Emission Reduction) through the Clean Development Mechanism across China and ASEAN countries.

I derive great personal rewards from my work at COzero, knowing that the Originate Carbon portfolio prevents millions of tonnes of greenhouse gases each year, improves local living standards, and generates thousands of employment opportunities in rural or remote areas of developing countries.

Dr. Adam Kucera

Head of Financial Engineering

At COzero I am leading the development of electricity market forecasting models and risk analysis along with a range of structured products for the trading desk. My career background at leading energy and financial companies has given me an extensive knowledge of foreign exchange, energy and equities markets to draw upon in these endeavours.

My involvement with COzero has been inspiring, and the opportunity to develop a product suite for such a forward-thinking and dynamic company is extremely rewarding.

My educational background has largely been based on and around mathematics – which I consider a second language. My academic qualifications include a PhD in Applied Mathematics and a Bachelor of Mathematics (First Class Honours) from the University of Wollongong.

Alex Smith

Chief Financial Officer

As COzero's Financial Controller I am responsible for managing cashflow, overseeing financial reporting, financial planning and both tax compliance and advisory. With the continued expansion of COzero the management of foreign exchange exposure will become an increasingly important part of my role.

Coming from a Chartered Accounting background I bring strong analytical skills to the business. I am passionate about innovative accounting solutions (don’t laugh – they exist) and their ability to impact and drive revenue and value. I am excited about the move into commercial accounting and the opportunity to work in an innovative, dynamic and challenging environment.

Matt Goh

Head of Energy Retail

I have a keen interest in environmental and climate change issues, the effectiveness of renewable energy and energy efficiency schemes, and their role in encouraging households and businesses alike to change. I am particularly interested in the ways governments and corporations in Australia deal with the key elements of the Triple Bottom Line, and the facilitation of new technological developments in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Brought in by COzero to help establish its energy retail business, I bring more than 20 years of trans-Tasman energy, banking and telco experience in multi-disciplinary senior/executive management and consulting roles. My energy sector experience ranges from small energy start-ups to large retailers and network owners.

My qualifications include an MBA from Monash University, a Diploma of Financial Services (AFMA), a Graduate Diploma in Finance from Massey University (New Zealand) and a Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing) from University of Canterbury (New Zealand).

Geoff Alexander

Chief Operating Officer

My longstanding interest in environmental markets and clean energy technologies has been a key driver of my career, which is focused on harnessing government policy and initiatives to facilitate change and deliver commercial success.

Before co-founding COzero Aggregation Pty Ltd, a top three STC/REC originator in Australia, I worked in a number of capacities throughout environmental markets. I co-founded Neco, a leading originator and trader under the NSW Greenhouse Gas Accreditation Scheme (GGAS), the first cap and trade scheme in the world. As a principal at Global Edge Project Consulting, I led due diligence on a range of clean energy asset acquisitions including a portfolio of wind assets, a biomass power station, and several international Clean Development Mechanism projects. An early stint as an organic farmer also gave me a grassroots commitment to sustainability issues and the huge impact which can be generated by individual action.

Participating in the growth of these seminal environmental markets within Australia, and witnessing recent policy developments, gives me great hope for the future of a low carbon economy in Australia and our place at the forefront of global change.

Nick Armstrong

Chief Executive Officer

A passion for the environment and the role that the market must play in its conservation gave me the initial motivation to co-found COzero, COzero Aggregation Pty Ltd and the Originate Carbon fund.

Using the experience I gained from the establishment of Greentricity™, a licenced electricity retailer with a 100% clean energy product, I set up COzero in 2007 in a burgeoning environmental market. From modest beginnings, our employees and adaptability have allowed COzero to grow with the market into the thriving enterprise it is today.

Along the way, COzero has investigated and invested in environmental markets across the world. Involvement with the Clean Development Mechanism from its earliest stages has given me significant experience in this area and allowed COzero to develop a strong network of contacts across the ASEAN region.

I am proud to have built a team of people at COzero that thrives on a dynamic office culture and I have great confidence in their work. Growth in global environmental compliance has an important part to play in the worldwide effort to mitigate climate change – and it is with this aspiration in mind that I lead the company and make my own personal contribution to the environment.

David Hayes

Non-Executive Director

From senior roles in the UK energy sector, including the management of electricity, gas and energy products, I was drawn to warmer climes to further my professional ambitions and relocated to Australia 15 years ago.

Following my involvement with a number of energy-related businesses in Australia I have grown a portfolio of successful companies. My recent roles in energy and environmental fields include co-founder of Qenergy, CEO of SolarFund and Managing Director of Formfill Australia (now Utilisoft), a software provider to utilities.

Drawing on the experience I have in this industry, I will continue to help identify exciting and strategic new business opportunities for COzero.

Chris Reeve

Chairman

As Chairman of COzero I bring extensive experience in financial and environmental markets to help steer this dynamic organisation to new achievements. Our distinguished Board acts as a strong and effective partner to COzero’s energetic management and team.

Throughout my career I have been fortunate enough to have worked across the world in many sectors of the financial market. I am a former Managing Director of Tullett and Tokyo Australia (Tullett Prebon) and pioneer of joint venture Tirex Global Trading, involving Telstra and the Sweden-based company Telia, for the creation of a telecoms traded market.

Over the years I have fostered an increasing awareness of the environment and a strong sense of duty to confront the issues it faces. This led me to General Manager roles at Green Invest Ltd and leading Australian energy and environmental credits broker Next Generation Energy Solutions.

My drive to be involved with new and exciting companies brought me to COzero, where I am privileged to have the capacity to offer advice and direction to the continuing growth of the company.
